Empowering the Next Generation of Innovators
On Saturday, August 30, 2025, Elfi’s Sisterhood made history once again during the 31st Anniversary Celebration of the National Corvette Museum, showcasing their commitment not only to cars but also to education through robotics. Since its establishment in 2019 to honor the legacy of Elfi Arkus-Duntov, this sisterhood has united passionate women across the automotive community not just to celebrate Corvettes but to enact significant change through philanthropy.
Significant Investment in STEM Education
This year, the group awarded nearly $27,000 to fund a STEM Robotics program for the McMichael Family Education Gallery. Manufactured by Sphero, the robotics set includes 16 interactive robots along with additional educator materials. This hands-on technology will enhance STEAM-based education for students of all ages. "This will be perfect for one of the rotations on the field trips we host at the Museum," commented Robert Maxhimer, the Museum’s Director of Curatorial Affairs and Education, emphasizing its importance in nurturing young minds during their visits.
Championing Women in Automobiles
Elfi’s Sisterhood represents more than just funding; it signifies a legacy of leadership and collective giving. Every member contributes $1,000 annually to vote on how their pooled funds will impact the Museum's programs. Past initiatives have included creative exhibits and internships aimed at empowering young women in the automotive field. The commitment displayed by this sisterhood reinforces the idea that women can drive innovation and change, not just within the motorsport community but in society as a whole.
