Excitement Builds for Corvette Racing’s FIA WEC Season
As the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season gears up, Corvette Racing, in conjunction with TF Sport, is aiming to build on past successes with their two Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.Rs. Kicking off the season with the official Prologue test this week, the spotlight will soon shift to the Qatar 1812 Km, taking place on February 28. This race holds significance as it commemorates Qatar's Day, marking the nation’s unification.
A Strong Lineup Ready to Compete
The competitive edge for Corvette Racing this year comes from its carefully curated lineup. In the No. 81 Corvette, the returning trio includes factory drivers Charlie Eastwood, Rui Andrade, and Tom Van Rompuy. Meanwhile, No. 33 will see a fresh driving team consisting of Daniel Juncadella, Ben Keating, and Jonny Edgar. Both Corvettes will participate in all eight races of the WEC calendar, including the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans, where the Corvette name has earned glory with nine wins from 2001 to 2023.
Past Success Fuels Future Ambitions
Corvette's recent performance at the Rolex 24 At Daytona, where they clinched the GTD class victory, has certainly energized the team. TF Sport seeks to leverage their insights gained from previous races, including last year’s mixed results in Qatar, as they head into this season. “Daytona was a very successful and positive kickoff for the Corvette Z06 GT3.R in IMSA,” said Jessica Dane, Corvette Racing Program Manager. “It has validated our engineers' hard work to deliver a reliable and fast Corvette, making us eager for what's ahead in Qatar.”
Lessons Learned and Eager Expectations
Last year’s debut on the Losail International Circuit offered valuable insights despite the challenges faced. The No. 81 Corvette even achieved a remarkable pole position, but the finishing results fell short of expectations. With a year’s worth of experience, the team is enthusiastic about improving their performance. This commitment to learning and adaptation reflects a core philosophy that could lead them closer to championship contention this season.
What Lies Ahead?
As the team prepares for a full season of intense competition, they will undoubtedly rely on their strong camaraderie and experience. Enthusiasts and fans alike will be watching closely as the Corvettes are primed for action in Qatar, hoping for a successful start to their championship chase.
Stay tuned as we bring you updates on their progress and the pursuit of excellence in the world of endurance racing!
